Comment: Sites submitting specimens for testing must be approved by the Nebraska Health and Human Services System's Epidemiology Program within the Department of Regulation and Licensure.

A Special Microbiology Requisition or order must accompany the specimens.

  Availability: Daily. Results in 24 hours.
  Specimen: Blood
  Collect: One 6.0 mL SST(Gold) tube or One 5.0 mL EDTA (Lavender) tube.
  Volume: 1.0 mL serum or plasma (Min: 0.6 mL)
  Transport: Refrigerate
  Comment: If sample transport to lab is not the same day as collected; aliquot the serum or plasma.
To aliquot: Centrifuge the sample and transfer the plasma or serum into a clean tube. Label "plasma" if appropriate.
